Hearty Korean Soup in Rowland Heights | Sun Nong Dan’s Yangji Seolleongtang Review
If you're anywhere near Rowland Heights and craving something warm, simple, and satisfying — let me introduce you to a hidden gem inside a busy Chinese mall:
Sun Nong Dan. π°π·π²
While this place is famous for its flaming Cheese Galbi Jjim (yes, they torch it at your table!), I decided to try something more low-key:
π Yangji Seolleongtang (beef brisket soup).
Why? Because prices everywhere are skyrocketing, and this was one of the most affordable choices on the menu at $19.99.
π₯’ Side Dishes & Service
Once seated, I was greeted with a full spread of Korean side dishes:
-
Spicy green onion salad
-
Kimchi
-
Crunchy radish kimchi
-
Soy-pickled onions with chili peppers
They were all fresh and flavorful — and best of all,
✨ the server offered a refill without even being asked.
Kind, attentive service goes a long way.
π The Soup: Generous Meat Portions!
The Seolleongtang came out steaming with a bowl of healthy purple rice on the side.
What stood out the most?
✅ The beef portions were impressive.
There was more meat in that bowl than I’ve seen at most Korean restaurants lately.
Tender, well-cooked, and plenty of it.
The broth?
Clean, subtle, and comforting — not overly fatty or salty.
It felt like something I’d crave on a rainy day.
πͺ No Wait, Great Vibe
We arrived just after the Saturday lunch rush, and
πΊ we got a table immediately.
Inside was calm, clean, and perfect for a chill meal.
The surrounding Chinese mall was packed with people, and every restaurant seemed to be booming.
